PRESS RELEASE
A Czech Mate for the Steeldogs
Bradfield Brewery Sheffield Steeldogs are very pleased to announce that they have been able to sign up 25 years old Czech goalie, Dalibor Sedlar, to take over netminding duties from the recently departed James Flavell who made the tough decision to concentrate on his teaching career.
Dalibor Sedlar has played for his country at both U18 and U20's level and in the Czech 2 league. He is hungry to progress his hockey career and the Steeldogs are looking forward to helping him succeed in his aim.
His first game for the Steeldogs will be at iceSheffield tomorrow evening (7.30pm) when close League rivals, Peterborough Phantoms are in town. It will be a tough debut for Dalibor as both sets of players will be battling it out for vital play-off points and will no doubt be the usual feisty game between these two teams.
Dalibor said “I am really excited to come to the UK as I have heard a lot of good things about Sheffield from Lubomir. I know that I can help the Steeldogs make the play-offs and I am looking forward to my first game v Peterborough tomorrow.”
Owner Shane Smith said of this latest signing “I am delighted to welcome this talented young goalie to the Steeldogs. From what I have heard, Dalibor is a very quick and technical goalie and should be a great addition to the team. We are trying to do everything we can to get the team to the play-offs and are committed to getting back to playing the type of hockey we all love to watch. We have achieved some great results in recent weeks with the team we have and with the addition of Dalibor, I feel this is another step forward to move us in the right direction.”
Coach Andre Payette added his comments saying “I am excited to have Dalibor on board and I think that a good young goalie fits in well with our young Sheffield team. We always knew it was going to be tough for whoever filled Ben Bowns boots, but hopefully Dalibor can come in and give us that consistency at the back that will help us climb the table quickly.
“Tomorrow's game against Peterborough is vital for us gaining points towards a play-off berth and hopefully Dalibor's first game at iceSheffield will be a success.”
“I would also like to thank Andy Grayson at the Noose and Gibbet Inn for helping the Steeldogs bring Dalibor in. Please come down to iceSheffield tomorrow, Saturday at 7.30pm and give Dalibor a warm Sheffield welcome and give the whole team the same noisy support you gave us last weekend.”
